im getting a 195 gallon tank this november for my ornate bichir. but naturally we cant just have 1 fish in a 195 gallon tank now can we. i came up with a few things....... but i dont know what else, i started another thread on this topic but i realized that i dont want the way over stocked look.......

so heres what i am definetly getting.....

AFRICA:
1 Polypterus Ornatipinnis
1 Polypterus Weeksii

SOUTH AMERICA:
1 Osteoglossum Ferrerai

ASIA:
1 Datnioides pulcher

it would be imo awsome to have at least 1 species from each continent.... so what kool moderatly easy to obtain fish from australia and North America would go well in this setting? just lookin for ideas. thnx in advance

Well good luck getting fish from antarctica! I think the best fish Australia has is obviously the jardini, but it looks like you already have a black so I would go with something like a "coal grunter" is what I think they are called. From North America I would go maybe pickerel....? It would be a very odd combo but look really good. Maybe a florida gar would work.

I was gunna say a bullhead too but idk how they would do with the bichirs....? I would just think the bullhead would gulp them.

.lol forgot about antartica  ya the pickerel is a good idea, but i keep hitting a brick wall as far as aussie goes, everything either gets too big, is too small, or kills everything else......

For North America a pickerel might work, make sure it's a redfin or grass pickerel though and not a chain pickerel. Pickerel are not very aggresive to beware if adding it to a tank with aggresive fish. A bullhead might also work, just make sure the bichir is larger. Bullhead grow fast and reach a length of between 12-20". For Australia, I honestly have no idea. The best fish I can think of is a shoal of the larger rainbow fish species but they would probably get munched.

EDIT: Alright, I have done a bit of research. Take a look at this link. It talks about the different kinds of Australian fishes good for aquaria. It is divided into five sections.

whats wrong with the chain pikerel? i think the others get too small, a 12 inch fish skinny fish would easily get munched by a 30 inch aro . lokked at the aussie site, love the Long Tom, have a feeling there a liitle hard to come by tho:screwy:

so decied form aussie id go with a indo pacific tarpon but for north america i may go with a spotted gar ir a shortnose gar, or a bowfin, a bullhead..... or pike.......
