i do 25% water change 1st week

2nd week 50%

start over again..

I am not sure if you can do this but I do 2x a week 75% WC and my Cichla breed like clock work. I don't too much mess with anything at all not the Ph nore the heat I keep my heat consistant. I just did a WC so i will let you know tomorrow what my average temp is on this tank but I am sure it's 82' and ph is high like 8.2. I have begun playing with the Ph but I am doing this for color not breeding.

My best advice is bump up the Oxygen in your tank also. I have been told by very wise man that this is key. GL and be patient there will be many attepmts at sucecess but only takes 1 mistake to start the whole process over again.

cool tanks for the info..i've got a nice wild caught male coming next week..so i know there will be a breeding sooner or later..i just picked up a new air pump..i will throw in my bubbles today sometime..i would do a 75% water change but i use cold tap water from the garden hose..and the temp drops to mid 70's if i do a huge water change..

Yes you want to use the house tap of course we don't want you to kill them. LOL But give a try and let us know how things turn out. I would also look into buying A LARGE power head like a 901 power head. You can use the 2x 550 power heads or I think the 2x 750's will do as well. GL.

i been usin the garden hose for along time of course adding stress coat and stress and zyme..i always check my levels for ammonia,ph everything and everythings on point..i will go and buy some power heads tomorrow..

their is nor reason to add stress coat or zyme. what you want to add is prime or another dechlorinator. your fish produce slime coat their is no reason to add.

I also use the garden hose...just dump some dechlor in there. Make sure the water temp doesn't drop too low. That could stress them a little. Try to get the temp to drop just a few degrees and see how their attitudes will change...lol

Drop the temp with the w/c, and leave the heater at like 84. Do w/c whenever you like.

yea right now my heaters are at 87 but it stays from 85-87 so i'll change the temp on the heater..i'm getting rid of my orino today so later tonight or tomorrow i'll have slates in the tank..another thing, will pbass lay their eggs anywhere or do they choose specific ares? and could my kelberi be waiting for a spot to lay her eggs? bcuz her tubes been down and up for along time..
