I'd agree with this post and some sevrums as well.
Chocolates look awesome and get about 15". Here's a lil info.

15" is dreaming a little too much. they may reach 12" but 10" is more likely. even cichlid-forum has them listed at 12". they're pigs like oscars and can be pushy, mine was a brute and didn't really care for any other tankmates that had that same body shape (psittacus, severums...)

uaru are very peaceful. they like to be in groups and actually school. i was holding 5 and they rarely broke apart from one another. if you went with uaru you should get atleast 3 and they get about 10" as well

You could try Petenia splendida the bay snook. They occur in both normal and red morphs. They wont bother anything that they cannot swallow.

Its pot luck as most cichlids vary in personality i have several types of geo in one of my tanks and they are a nightmare !! I have a Gt 10 " that is what your looking for but my last GT was lethal

Uaru are really your best bet. I have kept everything listed in this thread and uaru are by far the least aggressive. I have even kept adult uaru with tiny baby altums with no problems. If you want something to stay near the surface, you might try festivums too.

these dont get to 10'' but keyholes are pretty peacefull

I would go with Uaru, too. A lot of severums are peaceful but you also hear of pushy/belligerent ones. I've found that Uaru will argue amongst themselves (much like any cichlid) but they basically ignore other fish. Occasionally my severums push them during feeding time and the Uaru push back, but never in an aggressive way. It's more of a "don't mess with me, I'm just as big as you" warning.

I've kept Uaru with discus, angels, rams, various dwarf cichlids, and even baby 1.5" bristlenose plecos. The only aggressive encounter I ever saw was once when I went on vacation and the fish were on light feedings -- I came back and they had ripped one of my small black angelfish in half and were eating it.

I think if you kept them well-fed and make sure you have an adequately sized tank, they should be fine.

As Sean mentioned, they are shoaling fish, much like discus. You should probably try for at least four. At the size they get, you'll probably need a 125 - 150 gallon tank at least.

Another "me too" on Uaru. They're awesome wet pets and also great with other fish or alone. They get to a good size, they're interesting, they are fun to feed and watch, and they're not super messy. What's funny is that despite being peaceful, they can totally hold their own against meaner fish. For a while before I could go full SA, I had my female in a tank with a big 12" bastard distichodus that harrassed everyone. As soon as I dropped her in the tank, she ran the show and he calmed down and never bothered her. She never even had to snap at him. Something about her just kept him in check. She would slowly glide over into his territory and he'd just back away as if he was terrified. It was hilarious. Now she lives with a bunch of eartheaters and is easily the largest in the tank, and she doesn't ever mess with any of them at all. I'm growing out 6 orange amphiacanthoides too and I can't wait til they're ready to add to the tank. They're great even as juvies - there's a pack of them living with one solitary little rasbora that's left over from another tank, and they don't bully it at all, even at feeding time.
