Don't worry I'm not starting another, "when do dovii get aggressive?" threads. I know when they get aggressive and that's why I'm needing some support right now. My male dovii is hopefully around 9in. I say hopefully because I haven't seen him in weeks. He just stays in his cave aaaaaallllllll day long! It's ridiculous how long he can stay in one spot. He ignores food and everything else uuuuntiiiillll...the lights go out and I can't see him anyways. It's so frustrating. So now that I'm done, maybe seeing some pics of nice big adult male dovii and a "just be patient", will motivate me NOT to sell his you no what. So who ever is going through, has gone through this, vent here.

If you want the fish to be active and glass bang early, you need to keep it in a smaller tank without too much cover where it can completely hide from you. For instance, at 9 inches, I would keep it in a 40 breeder if my goal was to have an interactive fish right at that moment.

Yea man, he'll snap soon, as soon as he feels confident enough. You have to remember, if a 9 inch dovii was in a lake he would still have to be reclusive. So once he's confident enough he'll come out. Also, with my managuense I took out any enclosed spots and put in a fake log so he had security and I could still see him

I took out all hiding spots so he was always out in the open. Once he became confident I put his log back and now he defends it from me with all his might lol

Thanks everyone. He was in a 75g then I moved him to his own 50g. I've tried taking everything out but he gets really dark and looks really stressed out. Do I just stick it out till he gets comfortable?

Here's the tank and him. All huddled in his corner. There was a structure that he had been hiding in but I removed it. uploadfromtaptalk1359263373372.jpguploadfromtaptalk1359263428731.jpg
