So I decided to buy a Marineland canister filter for the 55. I was a Petsmart getting ghost shrimp anyway so why not. There was only one on the shelf. I opened it and I had seen someone had opened it. I asked before I bought it how do I know everything is in there. Before I get home. Oh it says on the box what comes with it.
You know at this point I'm thinking don't do it. I never listen to myself I should have just bought the Fluval. UGH! I get home sure enough I'm missing 2 parts. So who ever opened it took what they wanted and dipped. I'm not close to the store. I wanted it up and running before the boyfriend got home. I call them and she is like I can call another store or you can call the company.
I'm thinking what call the company? For real.... omg.... noooooo... I told her to call another store. They have it thank god. Now I'm thinking if I have all these problems now.... I should exchange it for a Fluval. I have to go there anyway. Bad part is I already cut the tubing. What should I do? Exchange for another Marineland 350 or exchange for the Fluval? Would they even let me after I cut the tubing?

Fluval all the way... Personally unless were talking heaters, I stay away from Marineland. If your going canister Fluval or Eheim. Everything else is just so uncivi... LOL

they wont check it with the cut tubing. just dont put the small cut off parts in the package. if they notice play dumb and say the last person who purchased it and returned it incomplete must have cut the tubes. if you return it for the marineland they will just send the open incomplete box back to the factory and trade for the new one. same if u trade for the fluval. In my experience i like fluvals better. but they usually cost a little more.

like i said blame it on the guy that returned it incomplete. hes already out of hot water. and they cant say you lied because the customer is always right. if they even look they will just glance in the box to make sure its not a brick (happened here and they got away with it) and if they noticed say you didnt. lol

fluval all the way. I have a 305 on my 55 and love it. also have a fx5 on my 240 and love it.

only thing about the 305 is it's kinda a pain to clean if your not meticulous at cleaning it ever month or so. the sponge filters accumulate a lot of junk and snails in the tubing. my tank is heavily planted so ya good luck :)

Chances are they won't even check the tubing. One possible explanation for the missing parts is that someone had returned it and they never checked to see that it was all complete. I'd go with the Fluval for a canister.

I had a marine land 350 cannister and it ended up leaking all over my floor in my apartment....id say get somthin else...
