I have learned that if you can make the teacher laugh, it is usually worth a letter grade. No offence to Matt, but this would play out well as a hermaphroditic/transgender character (to give it a flavor of Greek mythology).

Milkinus should be the goddess of morning fog (symbolizing rebirth) and procreation (emphasis on nursing). Milkinus should be the first born and then assists in the birthing and care (wetnurse) of the following siblings. After the war, Milkinus is condemned to the underworld (for being on the losing side or supportive role) and then is transformed to the god Lactosus Intolerus to dole out bouts of explosive diarrhea to the wicked.

Or Milkman could be a minor god with a supportive role:
Milkman is the offspring of a god and a sublife form (maybe like the South Park episode "Sea People"). Milkman is ordained to be the god of formula home delivery and artificial insemination (a play on words of the milkman being the village Don Juan). The war becomes a perpetual stalemate and lasts for centuries until the unsuspecting minor god Milkman delivers tainted formula to the rebelious side, wiping out their supply of replacement soldiers. As a reward for milkmans heroic deed, he is rewarded with his offspring to rise to become Man.

Oh yeah, CHOMPERS is a giant cartoon goldfish that swims in the River Mystix, eating anyone who tries to escape the underworld :D

Just a little refining:
Milkman is the accidental offspring as a result of self stimulation when a god's seed fell upon a gellatinous sublife form...(god + sublife form = Man)

chompers, your ideas are amazing lol :).
