I need your help with a 30 Extra High (24 x 12 x 24)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just don't go eeyore on us if you aren't where you want to be in the fish keeping game 6 months from now. i just thought it was a golden opportunity to get closer to accomplishing your goal/dream of owning a larger tank. small sacrifice to accomplish a larger goal.

unfortunetley i don't have any suggestions, i'll be checkin back to see what other's suggest.

I think you should sell it also..

First I would say no to SW - aluminum and salt don't get along well.

I actually like the dimensions and the aluminum stand, I think you could have a really cool setup. A matching aluminum hood would pull it all together nicely.

Here's an idea:

A pair or small group of small SA cichlids
12-15 Lemon Tetras
4-6 Corydoras

Sand substrate
Lots of driftwood, stretching from bottom to top of tank
LED lighting, if $$$ allows
A big piece of slate placed vertically across a back corner could hide heaters and such.

I know your stance on posting photos, but it would be nice...

I had the same size 30g tank for a long while until I downsized to a 20g tall. The dimensions are not the best. You have a lot of water volume but not a lot of surface area, so aeration is important.

That being said, I would suggest a planted tank with your show fish being 1 angelfish. An Angelfish would appreciate the 24 inch height of the tank, since they like going up and down the tank. Then you could add some cardinal tetras and some cories.

My 30g tall had the Aqueon 55w pc light which provided sufficient light to grow many types of plants.

The picture below shows how the tank looked when I did my first planted tank.

I say go with a puffer. Setup a low tech planted scape and go with these guys.
