Hey all! Thanks for the welcome and the advice! I should've been more specific -- the motag does not attack the female. They immediately pair up, though no spawning has occurred. When they are paired, he goes on an extreme offensive. He takes up 3/4 of a 6' tank. I personally had never experienced or even heard of a catfish being attacked; so I never expected that. They are still relatively small (speaking in comparison of adult size given by Dr. Axelrod), so they are in a 135gal. I have three tanks right now -- a 135, 46 Bow, & 10 gal. The latter two were going to be hospital tanks, but not so much now. I have tried many different combinations of fish here and fish there, with no suffice. Right now, the 135 has 3 Jags 3", 2 TSNs 3", 1 Clown Loach 2.5", 1 Nicaraguen 2.5", 1 Meeki 2.5", & 2 Chocolate albino & 2 Hi-Fin Plecos 3". The 46 has one FL Gar 6", 1 Motag female 4.5", 1 Hi-Fin Ashcara 5", 1 RTC x TSN 6", & 1 Pleco 7". The 10 temporarily has (I feel real bad about space confinements) 1 Motag male 7". When no female is present, the Motag won't even eat feeders. When she is there, he attacks and nearly kills anything that swims near. So, I see no combination with the male and female together, other than in their own tank with a strong Pleco. Someone who has handled the Parachromis genus, maybe the species Motaguense, can advise. Can you calm a fish down? If not, I seriously doubt the two will have swimming room in a 46 Bow, so what size would be appropriate for those two? By the way, I have mentioned the female's temperment -- she has always been peaceful, no problems with her.

Try using target fish I had the problem when I place mine together they attacked each other, but that calm them down and focused on the target fish.

75 gallon tank minimum for the pair imo with a divider handy just in case.
