Anyhow a black aro with DE, there is also a large black at the Shedd aquarium in Chicago that has DE(a few MFKers have testified to seeing this). This video below is also of a black with DE

Thanks Brian, I never see Black Arow with DE :) Good to know :)
 
relax and take a chill pill... merely stating my opinion on the matter based on the fact that I rarely see DE in blacks. I'm glad you found 2 examples, but I can find you 100+ silvers DE. Then again it is probably because silvers are more plentiful so there are more personal accounts.

Who knows? Everyone is merely speculating, yes including you and me, on the causes of DE. Trauma definitely seems like a major cause, but then again who knows if that is the sole reason.

yeah, for 10x3x3 set-up 5 silver or black aros is a good number. Imo, no need to get many juvies cos i recon getting rid off them later on is a hassle.

i would suggest partitioning the large set-up in half at the begining for ease of feeding

there is no guarantee that there will be no fighting.

You may or you may not get DE. At the moment, i got three silvers approaching 3' (in a 8x3 footprint) though only one has a slight DE. Hope it stays that way, though i have resigned to the fact that eventually they will get DE probably. Check out my Siam Paragon thread (part I) in Photolounge, there are pix of massive silver (fully grown ~4') in a massive set-up with DE. So if you find DE unacceptable don't get aros odds are against not getting DE.
 
Ok Monster aro Keepers , now that the myth that blacks dont get DE is solved...

i need to know, if is well known that blacks are less aggressive, or is a myth like the drop eye??

because this could affect the stock, if the are less aggressive i could go with a tank full of black, but variety is always good, so for now i'm thinking about a mix...
 
they have to be amazonian species....

the LFS deals with a distributor in colombia, on the other side the use asia just for goldfish (with a big DOA i imagine)
