Ok, I want to put my 2 cents here. I see plecos here all the time, theyre quite easy to catch by hand in full health, Theyre actually not that susceptible to the cold, alot more plecos are living than other invasive species right now, I've only seen two dead plecos. Plecos dont do much if any harm to natives, theyre cool fish, and what you did was unimportant to their population and just plain stupid. If they were a problem FWC would notify the public to kill them, as other states have done with round gobys and the like. None of the invasives here have caused any serious problems and are pretty much part of the florida ecosystem by now, so i believe them dying off from this cold will not have any benefit but only hurt the number of fish in our waters :(. Your logic was ignorant and I hope you now know better. Btw I would like to find some plecos between 3-6 inches, all I see in my canal are full grown monsters. The smallest one I've seen recently was 12 inches.

This just shows that sometimes people suck more then plecos.

This...

Hope this is a joke, otherwise not only did you manage to start a WTF thread... you wasted 3 hours and took the lives of far too many animals for no good reason...

:nono:

This is just sick... :irked:

This is not the best topic to present on a fish fan site. On the other side of the coin is the fact that FL doesn't allow caught invasives to be re-released back into state waters.
I'm closing this flamefest. There's nothing to be gained here except the chances for dealing out additional infractions.
