What is that square eggcrate divider used for? Is that so the fry have a place to get away from the parents? Or are they aggressive enough towards each other that there needs to be that much space between them?
I believe so. I know he has a 12" male that he's keeping. He started with 14, lost one male, sold 1 pair with an extra female, and I think sold 4 or 5 other pairs. Not sure if he has a female with the male or not.
The egg-crate "prison" as I like to call it is multi-purpose. It separates the two pairs I have in that tank currently. It also gives me a place to put a fish that is getting beat up, but still allows it to be seen. I can also put a dither/target fish in it that can be seen, but not touched.
I'm probably going to move the big pair to the 210 when I'm satisfied that the substrate isn't making the water too alkaline.
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96116 has the video link to their tank mates. I sent Dan an email asking him about some video he said he was going to shoot of my pair sitting on fry while he still had them. If he did, I'll post the link when I get it.
These pics still don't do them justice, but at least you can see why I woke up this morning and went downstairs and looked at the female and said, "hello beautiful."
