I ordered some indian Almond leaves

As the title says. I ordered some Indian almond leaves of Amazon. They must be alright because the supplier got 4.5 stars from over 2000 people. It's fot my shrimp tank. I don't need the tannins just the bennifits of the leaf for my shrimpn fry to eat. I generally don't add things to my tank with out treating them in some way. Should I boil the leaf first? Or just toss it in?

Any time I add almond leaves, I soak them for 24hrs and rinse them and then toss them in

I get mine from Puerto Rico. Cheaper than Amazon. I stick em in the sump for my oscar. New leaves with each water change. Never had a problem.
Soaking seems superfluous.
Oscar seems to like the water better.
