I picked up a very cheap Cheap turtle.

Good rescue and deal Hope you give this amazing turtle all the care and atencion she so rigthfully deserves Oh and dont forget about get her used to eat dark leafy vegetables as well calcium and fiber rich fruits like mango and papaya. Apple is a litle to rich in phosporus to be ideal but for variety is ok. Turtle,tortoise and pleco pellets are good staples

Hold up a piece of paper with the date right next to your turtle.

Anybody else besides me think he got a Florida softshell which LOOKS like a pignose, therefore that's why he posted that pic which is obviously off the net?!?

This is like a derail train wreck...but SW is no different from FW when it comes to dimensions. There will always be fish/inverts that compliment certain dimensions.
SW specific products are protein skimmers, refugiums, and maybe lighting. But even then, its only SW if it has salt water. You can still use all that stuff in FW its just not going to serve any purpose. A tank its self is either glass/silicone/plastic or acrylic. I could use a tank previously used for reptiles, but i wouldn't call it a reptile tank if it has fish in it.

Except for the fact that a tank that has been used for salt for years will have buildup on it, salt inside the silicone, and would leak salt into the fresh water.

Okay thanks its obvious I dont know anything about turtles confused it with the Amazon turtle but again never kept a single turtle.

Perhaps he posted wrong pic and got it confused with the common way cheaper soft shell to folks who don't know turtles it would make sense.

when I first moved here to Florida I saw some huge softshells and actually thought some type marine turtles that made its way into canal lol . I imagine he just got his new softshell confused with that pig nose than again maybe he got deal of a life time
