Are you sure it is a short-body deformed fish? Or just a high body normal breed. Short body generally means crooked back deformed fish like the attached image of a short-boby Texas. I see no deformity in the pics. I am raising high body Green Terror which were selectively bred in Malaysia with tall body, not deformed fish, and they reach normal size, not dwarfed.

I never notice that Jeff Rapp carries deformed fish or hybrid. Just curious.

He has it listed as short bodied. I've ordered from him many times so I trust him

Once that fish is in your tank, you'll forget all about that $100 price tag. Works every time for me. Good luck with the breeding.

I've already forgotten about it because I've wanted to breed this fish for sometime now

the most i have spent on a fish is about 30 dollars. most of the fish i get are very cheap. At petsmart they had 2 jewl cichlids for 2.50 each! I think they will breed when they are older beacause they stick together a lot!:headbang2

Madness what size tank are yours in and how is the pair with tankmates?

Now they are in a 90 gal and on their 3rd spawn since being there. As for being in the community tank. I wouldnt advise it. I pulled my female because they were getting nasty, once I pulled her the male mellowed out and fit right into the pecking order.

I wasn't gonna keep them with anything I just thought I saw other with them in the pics.

He doesnt "carry" deformed fish and i never saw anyone say anything about hybrid. These were like a small group of 5 select fish he had kept back (personal fish i think) not his normal stock. They were a special group he was trying to find homes for. Hes not actively selling or carrying short body fish from now in or anything. And i would define short body as any fish with a spinal deformity where the spine is shorter than usual therefore reducing the fishes length. Not if a fish is just taller bodied than usual like in stunted fish. The fish the op bought is not stunted or regular length but just tall its a short body. My opinion, feel free to disagree.
