which do you prefer jags or butti's?, i like both equally but right now i have a jag, its kind of a push pull thing. im locked in now though my dad would blow a fuse if he caught me getting rid of my jag

Jags, they tolerate other fish far longer than butti do. Jags are mean butti are evil. They don't live with anything, unless it much bigger than they and that never last. That being said I do miss my buttiImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1415346797.958282.jpg
You can see him next to my jag in that pic( about three years ago)

Of course he did...Jags are piscivores, & as such have superior dentition & jaw strength...Butti's are mollusc eaters.....they are hyper-aggressive, but won't stand much of a chance in a fight against a CA predator, when push comes to shove. Part of the reason an African riverine species shouldn't be kept w/ a CA lacustrine species.

Butti's are cool fish...but an adult male Jag blows them away in terms of color & IMO also personality. I would NEVER give mine up for any reason.

My 13 inch butti lives peacfully in my community with midas, catfish some red jewels that are 3 inch and 8 five spot jewels. Not had any experience with large jags but I had a male dovii at 10 inch, he had to be sold due to the damage his teeth done.
