So, I'm going to get another tank after christmas, Most likely a 75 gallon but if I have enough I might get a 125 or a 180. For the 75 I was planning to get a Jag, and was wondering what to put with the jag in a 75. As for the 125 and 180, I really havent though of what to stock them with as I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a 75 g. Are there any cats that could do well with a CA/SA cichlid of some type in a 75g? Thank in advance.

Also, i know this isnt the Pleco forum, but I was also wondering about a fancy/crazy looking plec to go with the jag maybe, any ideas? Thanks guys :)

Limas are great cats and would do well in a 75 for quite a long time. Either a lined or a spotted rapheal would be nice but they are hiders by nature so you wouldn't see them very often.

Hey dmopar, I'm about 3 hours away from you (Your in seattle, right?) if I remember correctly when everyone was trying to organize the NW MFK meet, that I didnt get to go to!

Anyways, I really like Lima's cool looking cats. I've been thinking bout a Liosomadoras oncinus, but at only 9.5'' it could become a potential prey item for a Jag.

I know its hard to ask for with a cat, but I want something that will come out "often" so I'm not having to get a flashlight out or something to search for it under driftwood and whatnot.

ive only had experience with lima's, raphael's, and a marble cat, and my big ol gibby pleco. i can say that the limas seem to be out more than any other cats i have had, unless its too big to hide like my gibby.:)

Awesome. Wouldnt it need a planted tank though? Or would it be alright if i just provided driftwood as cover? Cause a planted tank isnt gonna happen with a Jag, Lol.

Limas are really cool cats, I'm loking them more and more as I see more pictures of them on the net.

Do you think a Lima and a Jag would be a good stocking theme for the 75, could I add anything else maybe? If not that fine.

Lima's are great, they have a good personality for cats, when they "Hide" they stay vertical. limas do well with cichlids, as long as the cichlids are not too big and view it as food. If you want to try and mix a lima with a jag, try and get a lima about the same size so they grow together.
happy fishkeeping!

Yeah, I was planning to get the Lima the same size as the jag. The 75 will have sand substrate, some smooth river rocks, and possibly some floating plants such as elodea as I have it in my turtle tank it it grows extremely easy, just light and water and elodea grows, so no biggy if the jag tears it up. I also have a colony of elodea in a 35 gallon tank, so I have alot of it to spare.

I've read about th Limas standing up straight like reeds, wich is pretty cool, saw a really good pic of one demonstratiing the behaviour.

Are there any other cats out there that will do well with a Jag in a 75? I'm probably going to get a Lima, but I ant a few options to choose from.

Thanks alot for the help guys.

hmm as for plecos, you could try l007, L264 sultan(i think) or a zebra pleco... Zebra plecos are wild looking. search http://www.planetcatfish.com/core/ and Im sure you will find yourself many cats that you want

umm if you could get your hands on one a spotted bullhead. or some sort of pictus is what comes to mind when you want a more active one.

I dont know about ya'lls limas, but mine just sits there face down on this peice of wood all the time, till night then he iwll swim about some. As much as I like mine... eh...
