I really want a green terror...help please!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think she wants more than one fish.

Just leave the minnows in there when you put in the other stuff...lol

Yup, I'll have to leave the minnows in there- free snacks I guess. The only other tank I have is a 5 gal with a betta and they would over crowd it.

If the GT, convict, fm, pleco combo will work, then that is definitely what I will go with. I love all of those cichlids. Couple of questions though:

I have a Tetra 60 whisper filter- should I add another?
What kind of pleco should I get? My lfs has leopard plecos- so cooool but I don't think they would be appropriate for the above setup (I read they get quite large).

First, welcome to MFK!!! I have many fish in my 55g. I have 1 x 4" GT, 1 x 4" JD, 1 x 2.5" Blue Acara, 1 x 2.5" FM, 3 x 4-6" BPs, 5 x 1.5" CLs, and 1 6" Common Pleco. I have good filtration and do 50% water changes weekly. My water is crystal clear and I never have any serious aggression issues. I will be upgrading within the next month or two though. I think there are many options for a "few" fish in with a GT. Have fun and good luck.

Thanks! I definitely won't be upgrading- If I get a bigger tank ever, it will be home to a f/w stingray:) I don't mind doing frequent, large water changes- I just bought a 50ft python siphon system so they should be relatively easy.

Not in a 55.

Blue Acara, Firemouth or perhaps Convicts are your best bet.
later can be moved to something bigger but till the fish becomes huge can be there
edit: didn't know you didn't want an upgrade
but i still think an oscar can be kept in a 55g but don't know if it could be kept along with a GT

I think I like the looks of the GT's and Jack Dempseys better.

cool...my lfs has some very good looking pink convicts, and if memory serves me they were smaller than the GT's...

SO it's either the GT, convict, fm, pleco combo
OR
the Agels, Dwarf Gourami's, Rainbows and Pleco combo

LOL, my tank needs to hurry up and cycle before I have time to come up with more ideas:D I'm just dying to put something interesting in there, these minnows are kinda boring.

LMAOO isnt it fun!!!!!!!!!!!
