I saw my first monsters! (and i need some help setting up a 220g tank)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think most monster cats are going to be too monster for that tank. As for the Arrow, Ive been told a 36" width is best to keep them for their full life span. A 24" width will do for quite a while but they will eventually out grow it.

FILTRATION: 2 fluval fx5's (matrix rocks for biomedia), one wet/dry (bioballs and biospheres from hagen for biomedia)

THE TANK: 2 cichla monos, 1 yepezi stingray, 1 motoro stingray, 1 black arowana, 2 red bay snooks, 2 firemouths, 1 convict, 1 lima shovelnose, about 150 malaysian trumpet snails to mess through the sand.

Beautiful tank downset21! Can I ask the demensions of the tank? My goal is to buy/build something very similar to your setup. Thats including the iinhabitants =)

While we're asking setup questions, downset where'd you get the overflows? what's the rating on them in gph? thanks!

the tank is 72"x24"x30". the overflows came with the wet/dry. i have a mag700 pump on there if that helps, im not sure what they are rated at. I hope that helps. I just got into wet/drys 3 weeks ago.

so are all these folks w/ aro's in the tanks, are u planning on moving them out, or are the dimensions right?

also, anyone got some good fish ideas for th tank?

would like to encorporate the ornate bichir if possible?

any other fish you would recommend?

please include pics, if you have them

The fish in this tank along with fish from other tanks will eventually go into an 800gal. tank when our new house is built. The 240 will become a planted discus tank.
