Well, I really liked him as is, but I think he is fading.

You can see the light spots on the side, and his lower face is getting lighter.

I really liked his colors, but I think he is changing.

I guess we will see in a few weeks what happens.

Hmm... It is a good possibility that he is fading. How are the water parameters? Any change in his diet?

he seems big to be fading. are those spots raised at all? could he be scratching himself on something? is there a female that he can see? i have one fish that whips himself against the gravel when there is a female in the tank. he scratches the crap out of himself and looks really bad when this happens. he is not a fh though.

looks like he's in a tank w/ black background. that would answer it.

I have the same crutch, im looking for a blueback/clear tank to avoid the fadings. i hate to do this but adding colorful gravel should help out a bit.

thats what red dragons do.

gravel and background won't keep a fish from fading. It's in their genetics.

my FH lost its red and turned dark in my black back tank. I added white gravel; the black went away and it got brighter/whiter. i've recently added red pebbles; and guess what, it's starting to show more red.

It wouldnt' hurt to try.
