I think he is fading

That's the case for non-faded/fading FHs. This KML he posted above is clearly fading and there's nothing you can do to stop it from fading. Black background is fine, since he's fading anyways;)

To me, he will look better after faded. He's maintaining that redness even after he fades(some FHs fade and their redness fades with it and becomes pink). He will be a real looker when he's completely done! I just love faded GM/KMLs.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I do 1 or 2 50% water changes each week and there are only 5 fish in a 125, so I don't think it is water quality. I was just surprised that he would start fading so late, as he is about 6 inches not including the tail.

Thanks for the reassurance JP, I hope he will look better after fading too. But, it is always a bit scary to see those colors changing, when you think they are stable and like what you have.
