Hi all well I woke up today to find detritus worms I think on my aquarium glass I added a picture

Well I removed all my sand from my aquarium a week ago and I understand they live in the sand or gravel and only come out when oxygen is low in gravel but I don't have any gravel now. I also read that the deplete oxygen levels in the tank when seen on the glass like I am any had this happen???

What do I do?? And should I be worried ???

Plecos would do the cleaning job for u if u have one..my tank also had those worm as we speak, but i have my plecos to control..i didnt know if those worm would do harm to fish,..

Ya Sharizan I thought about that but I have 2 large flowerhorns in there that will probably kill a pelco with in weeks..

Also I read online that they eat wasted food so maybe they will be beneficial for my tank ... But they look horrible

Maybe I should just return the sand

I have a similar issue with one of my systems I didnt change the filter sock on schedule and noticed them I think they do in fact harm the fish in some way since they come from overfeeding and bad water quality. I can imagine them living inside the fish or something lowering the fishes immune system . I hear they go away after several water changes So Far I removed all substrate replaced filtersock turned off uv and treated the system with salt and acrflavin(spellcheck). Im doin mabey 5 -10gallon waterchanges daily Mabey RD or somebody can chime in...

I don't necessarily think I have them because of bad water conditions my tank is really clean.. I do water changes every week or 2weeks sometimes.

Personally I think it's because I removed the substrate and they have no where else to go.

I removed the 4 rafeal striped catfish to reduce fish waste. And reduced to feeding once a day. I am also going to do 2 water changes a week for a month and see what happens..
