I think I have detritus worms help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They're harmless but may irritate your fish if it got into its gills and etc. Those worms are a result of over feeding or bad water quality. Your filter is where majority of them will be hiding in. My best advice is to relocate the fish, drain the tank, clean the filter, let it sit in the sun for at least 2 days before setting it up again.
P.S. Clean water & constant water changes does not equal to good quality water.

Well I kind of understand what you guys are saying. But if I am doing my water changes what other thing will give me bad water conditions. And how do I check for it.

Also I have been vacuuming my tank every two days trying to suck them up.. And I still have quite a few.. And the white growth is still gathering at the bottom of the tank just above the silicon joint....

Also if I was to take ur advice on removing the fish and doing a complete clean, I would have to cycle my tank all over again... Wouldn't just using medication be much less stressful for my fish.

if there arent any unusual activities or signs of infections on ure fish, just continue doing it.
are the worms solid, maybe u can just remove using ure hands. hahah just a suggestion. :)

Well it looks like the planaria worms are getting less with the water changes and salt.
But I came home to day to find the female in the male section of the tank and they obviously fought each other and this is what happened to my fish.

When I came in the weren't fighting and they were really hungry so at least I know they can live together now. Was thinking of treating the male with iodine but the injuries are to close to his nose and eyes so I probably will not do that.
