So I have two angelfish hanging out in just a small 15 until the get bigger they are about nickel size maybe a little smaller right now. One just marbled and one that i would consider koi. Very active little fish come up to the top when they see food hang out in the front of the tank. Tonight I noticed they were acting kind of strange, well strange to me, hanging out next to the filter and at the top at the waters edge and just weird kind of jerky movements. I passed it off as I don't know territorial, curious?
Whatever the case I now only have one angelfish. I seriously have no idea where the other one is:nilly: there are a lot of hiding spots in the tank but its been hours, Ive put a little food in, Ive looked, poked and prodded and to no avail.
Has anyone ever "lost" a fish? Did you find it? What do you think about this? Do you think he's in the tank somewhere being antisocial or who knows? Do you think he dramatically jumped out and ill find him a week later on the floor? Angelfish don't look like big jumpers to me but i'm not going to assume anything at this point.

There is ALWAYS a possibility of jumping no matter what fish it is. One of my original three red bellies mysteriously vanished, I looked everywhere for the little guy around the tank but with no fish in sight. I think that my other two piranhas didn't like him verry much and ate him ):

fortunately there's nothing in the tank to eat him, i hope he just reappears as quickly as he vanished, and not on my living room floor. I have had a fish jump before but it was out of a poorly covered container my fault pretty much. There's really only a small space around the filter in the hood where he could have escaped. Really hope he didn't such a pretty fish and so much character.

Oh, weird. Do you have kids or idiot friends? That could explain the whole thing.

I'm sorry know one can help you. I lost a fish for about a week one time. Found him under a huge rock. Smashed and dead. The rock never moved.

Any pets that could have taken a fish that's jumped?

well if he jumped i do have four cats that will find it for me like the other one i had. there was obviously something going on with them that I didnt see, there arent any issues with the water or tank so now i have 0 angelfish. 1 escape artist and 1 that dropped dead in the 5 hours i went to sleep

Lost a rope fish one time for days, come to find out he was up inside a part of a plastic cave which wasn't ment for hinding in, it was a hole to let water fill it up and sink. Gl on finding him though...

Were these recently acquired angels? Sometimes they just can't take the transportation process and die.
