I think I pulled the wrong male.

A few days prior to the discovery of eggs, I did notice the "male's" reproductive organ larger than usual.. however, I can't tell if it's egg tube or big wiener :naughty:
Plus, it kept showing male spawning behavior such as flaring, display of fins, twerking, nudging the other GT's genital & rubbing its body against the other GT..

Another thing that I've read on several sites regarding green terrors is that during breeding, the females tend to be more aggressive between the two? My "male" behavior has changed from timid(being bullied) to aggressive overnight which also led me to think that he might be a she..
Another likelihood is that "he" has grown quite a bit and is similar in size if not bigger than the female at the moment.. could this increase of size be the reason why the dominance has shifted?
They are both pushing 4" (could be slightly smaller cause just a rough estimate)

Here are the pics of them:
Pic 1(high possibility that this is a female)

Pic 2, 3 & 4 (the male in question)

Pic 5 (both together)

Oh, they are sb. I can see why you have been having a hard time determining gender. They are both very washed out and stressed looking. Any specific reason you don’t have more decor in the tank? I think if you gave them more cover and some substrate they’d start coloring up.

If these two successfully mated, will their offspring be short-bodied as well?
Personally, I don’t really like sb fish of any type..
They looked like normal GTs at the lfs when I first got them.. are there any ways to tell the difference between a normal and sb GT around 1”~2”?
I’ve acquired a piece of driftwood but not sure how to prep it..
I wouldn’t want the tannins to leech out into the tank water..
How did you prep yours?

I kept my tank bare bottom for easy maintenance..

I’ve boiled wood before, but don’t anymore. I just use rocks to weigh it down. The tannins would be great for your terrors. I personally think it makes their colors pop beautifully and it is healthy for them.

I’ve never seen short bodies in person before, so I really couldn’t say if it would be obvious at 1-2” or not:/ I’m sure if they had offspring at least some would be s/b. How many? I have no idea. I’ve never been good at genetics. ?
