Snookn21 has these pikes for sale; he says they are crenicichla johanna. I am not saying he is wrong or anything; i have got fish from him before and he is A++++ in my book on customer service. I am not a pike expert so tell me what you think about these guys. They look really cool!! Could they be another type, and how big will they get? I also have a crenicichla lepidota can someone tell me how big it will get and are they compatible as tank mates?

I don't see any attached pictures.

I've never been able to keep any two Pike Cichlids together. Right now I have a big Johanna and a smaller Sveni, each in a different tank.

EDIT: There the pics are!

Not sure of the id, but I've seen similar described as johanna. Lugubris group, probably foot or more. Been thinking about doing the same - great way to get a group to grow out. Good price and he's a good guy. Still mullin' myself.

thanks do you know how big they get?

how do sex them? how hard is it to breed them?

help me out with info guys anyone?

Those look identical to the trio of pikes I just picked up as johanna's at my lfs. They're a lugubris pike, so they'll get pretty big, 12+" at least. Not sure on their community compatibility though. I'll let others chip in on it.

the fish pictured are johannas. they should get between 12-14 inches long. to sex them, you'll have to wait til they mature and females will have a white band in there dorsal fin.

mixing pikes is always tricky, the johannas pictured appear small, maybe 4 inches so its always easier mixing aggressive fish when there young. pikes are generally pretty difficult to breed aside from maybe the saxatilis group.

thanks you guys are the best. Does anyone else have anymore info?

Did you get em?
