exactly!

its also a good idea to get advice on wheher or not your setup you want could work!

for example someone asks
hey i just bought an 80 gallon tank and i was wondering if i could put a RED TAIL CAT in it for life

or what not!

That would be in the set up and filtration part of MFK. Different but I see the relation ship.

If I didn't ask questions of that nature I wouldn't have half of the stuff that I do. It's a good question. Maybe someone has an idea that the person asking never thought of.................which is why they ask in the first place. It's always good to get a second opinion. Someone else might have an idea that YOU like...

Second ideas are acceptable but dont we have 40 thousand other what to stock my tank questions? lol.

Gee... I rather enjoy the stocking threads:naughty:

Seriously some people have no idea whatsoever. Just help when ya can and ignore when needed.

^ agreed ^

You also have to consider that MFK is made up of people at many various levels of fish keeping. Often they just read and often never post.

We were all noobs at one time and we all still have something to learn...

:)

At any level you see so many pix on here that you should have a general idea of what you want. But I do see where all of you guys say that it is for a second opinion.

It was someone elses "what??" post that I first learned about shellies on,now I got 3 15g tanks full of them lol

So guys I just bought a 330gallon and am wondering what type of fish would work? And ideas on filteration as well?

haha :) , Ya I agree as well. Those threads get old real quick. The point of owning a tank is to make it unique, its your tank, make it your own.

:screwy::screwy:Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this is fish forum. And the purpose of a forum is for people to come and ask any questions they may have. If they knew what they wanted, they wouldn't ask. I think you are an idiot for being mad/annoyed. And if you get worked up over someone posting a simple question, then you have serious issues.:screwy::screwy:

I don't have a problem with people looking for suggestions..

but what gets me is all over the internet there are millions of threads asking, for example:

I have a 30 gallon tank with 4 neons? Do you think I am overstocked??

the problem I have is that:

1. it encourages the stocking police who will flame you if you have an extra neon in your tank

and

2. no one sitting on a computer at the other side of the world can tell you if your tank is overstocked.

only you can

you see how clear the water is

you know the parameters

you can see the fish swimming, eating etc.

you know whether or not they are healthy.

me sitting here on my computer cannot tell you that.

Problem is, people think that they can and it creates this attitude about "rules that are set in stone" in our hobby.

and this is not good, since most of the people trying to enforces these "rules" don't have the experience a lot of times to do so.
