I think its HITH but I'm not sure.

test strips are notoriously inaccurate. not only do they not give a numerical reading (what exactly does 'safe' mean?), repeated exposure to moisture, including simple humidity in the air, will cause the strips to react with the moist air and give a false reading when you actually use them for the tank water. plus, they don't come with an ammonia test. hardness and pH aren't the problem with your fish. cloudy water doesn't sound "fine" either. pick up some liquid test kits - like a mini-chemistry set for your fishtank. they are much more accurate when used properly and give actual numbers instead of vague results.

p.s. - why is your mom doing the water changes on your tank?

The water isn't really that cloudy it just looks that way since the background is black, the lighting and the white gravel. I don't think the water is even cloudy, its just looks like it because of the evironment.

because she wanted me to cut the plexi-glass for the top of the tank and I told her if she did a water change then I'd cut the top for it.

Test strips won't tell you anything. I've used them on cycling tanks before where they told me the ammonia was 0 and it was actually 1. I've used them on established tanks and had them tell me .50 when the ammonia was definately 0.

You HAVE to buy a liquid master test kit (API is what I use), or else you will never know the correct readings on your water.

I'm looking at the directions right now and the 2 nitrate portions of the strip are both the same. One is just more precise but they were both fine when I tested them. 0 nitrates. I have a emperor 400 and large sponge filter in the tank, theres like no waste in the tank whatsoever but it is a little bit cloudy. I just had my mom do a 60% water change and he bit her two more times and made her bleed again lol.

Tomorrow I will test for amonia and try to find "vita-chem." Am I going to be able to find that multivitamin at any of my LFS's or is it something I have to order online?

Test strips aren't very good but that has already been covered. If you're not getting nitrates even after you test with the liquid kit then you're tank isen't fully cycled but if it has only beeen running for two weeks then I would not expect it to be. There may be little waste in the tank but that dosen't mean there isen't ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. You cannot see those.
You might be able to find Vita-Chem in the LFS but I have to buy mine online, it wasen't expensive though.

I had reasons I picked the strip kit over the liquid kit.
1.) It was $30 and the master strip kit was only $10.99
2.) If I wanted to play with all of those chemicals I'd be cooking meth in a basement and paying somebody to do this all for me.

I am almost positive it has something to do with him running into the tank and attacking the glass every time somebody walks by. Maybe the water was bad but I think the head bashing kind of "softened it up" and brought the HITH on easier considering it is only right on his KOK and right belowe where his KOK meets his head. I am putting the medicine in the tank tonight, I'll keep you updated.

There's a reason it's cheaper. It doesn't matter how cheap it is if it doesn't work. The liquid kit is more expensive because you get a correct reading every time.

I don't see head bashing bringing on HITH disease. A lot of aggressive cichlids hit the glass when someone walks past. My red devil does the same.

We're not all telling you to check your water quality with a liquid test kit to make you spend unnecessary money, you simply HAVE to know your CORRECT water parameters to determine whether there is a problem and what you need to do to correct it.

I wish you luck, but warn you that medicine will only go so far if you have serious water quality issues.

It is worth the price I assure you. As for playing with chemicals. It is a part of this hobby. I don't know any serious hobbyist that dosen't check their water from time-to-time. If you don't like playing with chemicals perhaps you should consider a different hobby. The tests are really simple, all you do if fallow a few basic instructions.
Banging it's head on glass won't cause HITH. We're trying to help you here. All the advice you have heard is good advice and I suggest you take it if you want to save your fish. HITH is not something you mess around with but you don't need meds to cure it. I know from experiance. Clean water and a healthy diet is all you need.
