Wow, congrats liz. I remember when you got these guys. It's been a while. 14", very impressive. I got 3 that are putting some nice size on, but not close to yours yet.
I have never heard of these guys breeding in captivity, but if this was happening to me i'd probably go with the divider. As long as it is one the babies can't fit through. Babies don't know any better and will probably swim through big holes to the other side, just to become snacks.
I'd take all the lid's and lights off the tank, stand there and wait for just the right moment when they seperate to opposite sides of the tank and have your hubby help you get the divider in there fast and easy. Then sit back and wait to see what happens in a few weeks.
I don't know if that is the right way. But if the eggs are already being held they should already be fertilized... again just guessing from other fish's actions. They might not like the divider but it may help the male? Keep the the lil ones safe after they hatch. And he may even eat them after a short period of time of them hatching.
Just my two cents. Nothing based on past experience.
Again congrat's. And I hope this work's out. That would be incredible.
i agree with everything you said.... very good advice.. except one problem.. sharks get very high strung as they get older.. and doing anything around the tank is major to them.. they almost jumped out when i was trying to put divider in.. so i scratched that idea.. main thing is if there are babies in his mouth i want them to stay there.... not be swallowed or spit too soon.. so the best i could do was build a little hiding area in corner of tank.. like i said if i am lucky to get one baby i will be thrilled..i will scoop them out into a fresh water tank that is set up if i get so lucky.. i will keep you posted...

new pics of the mouth.. trying to keep documentation as the days go by to see if there are any visual changes.. the only thing i do notice{which may be a figment of my imagination} is the white area under the mouth looks a bit puffy...and also notice the flab on the fin on the female..006.JPG

wait wont it be hard to get them divided cause they school?
yes thats another reason it was impossible.. they stick together like glue

Mine are ALWAYS together :)

If the incubation is around 20 days, how do the males survive without eating?

It could be he's not eating because he doesn't like the food. The smaller one of mine willl stop eating massivore after a couple weeks and I have to feed him squid for a week. After that week he'll start eating massivore again. It always happens.

This is different then not liking something .. this is complete turnoff and total ignoring... like for one second he looks and darts away... and this is with any food.. and all the years i have had them they never went off food... they worship food ...any kind... so he either is carrying young... or dying... from thoat condition or mouth...but he is active as ever.. i like you did... have to wait and see... but no changes so far..
