We got this little guy when he was only about an inch long. Today when I got home and was feeding all my fish I noticed a white round spot on his upper side. He usually is very active and eats great....today he just hid and was real jumpy. Can anyone please help! How should i treat him?:nilly: Sorry for the dirty glass and blurry pictures!

is it just a spot that he bumped on something? or does it look like its diseased?

I would start by upping temp and adding some salt a long with a big water change, before you can accurately diagnose it.

It looks much more like a disease then a bump it is perfectly round and almost fungus looking...

if you can get a clearer pic it will help a lot. Its kind of hard to see exactly what the bump is from the pictures. But like I said, I would start with a water change, upping the temp, and adding a bit of salt.

he looks stress... change the water up and bump up the heat..... thats always the best way..

It might be fungus, but the problem with fungus is that it is generally an indication of something else that is wrong.
His change in behaviour is also a good indication to what it might be. Is he eating at all? Is he staying in one area of the tank? eg top or on the bottom? Try to look really close and see if you can see anything else. Look at his mouth area and the fins for damage/fungus/blood. Is he breathing fast?
I agree with doing a water change but be careful with uping the heat.. if it is a bacterial problem it can speed up his illness.

Here is a site I use sometimes that can be helpful - http://www.waterlife.co.uk/waterlife/chart.htm
