  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats what I just read too..people are calling it the d50 replacement not upgrade :) And also is a sounding like a fact or to the price drop on the d70"s..

I wouldn't call D40 an upgrade either since a lot of features were taken out but it does seem to take better images than the D50. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond40/page22.asp

I would call them sharper, not better. The thing that bothers me about the D40 is the lack of auto focus motor built into the camera. Otherwise it is a very good camera. My bucks will still be on the D50 and 70. Post processing is half of the fun anyway! lol

There are a couple d70's here for good price..

Hey Rallys.... How do you black out the background in your pics???

No post processing, just a deep tank and different light placement. (no flash either)

LOVE YOUR OSCAR AND JD, MOST OF ALL GO KENSETH im a native wisconsin night, his head quarters is in cambridge dank

Ah...nice pics. Great camera D70s for the price. I'm surprised you got a used one, when a new one is approx 519 in change w/o lens which was what I picked up. The fact that it works with older gen AF nikkor lens was the major factor for me.

Hmmm..D70S and D50 have the same image sensor RGB CCD, 6.24million pixels.

Major difference is the exposure metering: D50-420 pixels, D70S-1005 pixels.

Beauty of the D70S is the ability to have more controls over your shots, plus the DOF preview is sweet to have. Also since the D70 uses CF instead of SD, the largest CF is 8GB, while SD is 4GB that itself is a plus.

Also they have aftermarket addons for the D70, a power grip (hoodman or digipower) that holds either 6AA or 2 ENEL3 batteries for extra shooting time.

Sucks that nikon never made one themselves for the D70 or D50, go figure.

Either way, these 2 cameras are awesome and offer quite a bit of bang for your buck.:grinno:
