I would do 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons, and do twice a day for 3 days then do water change 70%. Put atleats 30g each epson salt one in the morning one at night.

If it is that then there's nothing I can do to prevent it from happening again.

It dont matter if its WC or CB, incident like this is out of our hand, we can just hope and pray it survive.If it is that then there's nothing I can do to prevent it from happening again.

For CB issually you wont see any problem to them when small, its when they start to grow is when you see something is wrong. I had a CB endlischeri that was perfect when small, after hitting 7" its body started to become S shape, it had a spinal problem, it swims funny but still had a huge appitite.
Epsom salt will help if it's gravel and continues to pass down. If not moving then it's a prob. But try it.
Looks like it's stuck near the mouth. I think try a vet. It might be expensive but worth it. These kind of lumps seen close to the mouth don't seem to end well.

I don't know if it's relevant but the bump looks bigger in the most recent photo. Has he eaten anything at all since the bump appeared? I'm sorry you're dealing with this, stuff like this sucks, hope it works out...
My delhezi is awesome, just as active as my Sen's, and he's even more personable. Of all my polys he is the most interactive. I don't have a palmas palmas but my LFS routinely carries senegalus mislabeled palmas. I'm not sure if your lfs does the same, but just beware. As someone else said, palmas will be more expensive so if the one in your lfs is $20 it's probably not a palmas.

My LFS is pretty reliable with fish ID - I can usually trust them. Bichirs are way at the bottom.
