I had a friend whose fish would always explode in size I think he fed them turtle food...

once I lent him some gold fish when I got them back I had a powerful current running thru the tank like a tred mill. first days he looked like he was gonna die from exhaustion but near the end of his stay at my house you could see his muscles.


i gave him to my neighbor she has a pond and he died...

he's a healthy well fed fish. he will probably live for 10+ years.

not only 5. just because fat humans don't do well doesn't mean fat well fed fish don't as well.

in the 90's I grew up some balas to 12" but they were no where near as fat as that one.

I had a Bala that fat and he just died one day for no reason that I could tell. He was hanging out with all the other fish swimming back and forth like normal, next day dead. He was about 2 times as fat as the rest of the balas I had, and no other fish died or go sick after him.
