*sigh*
the bulk of people that go into lfs don't know about forums and do zero research before purchasing a fish. The people here are not like the majority of people that go into lfs based on the fact the took the time to look for a fish forum, create a username and post questions.
You can't compare the two if you've never experienced the two. And going into a fish store on a regular basis is not like working at one.
You want to talk about logic? Experience vs experience or experience vs no experience.

Lol.

Actually I owned a fish store, I go to fish stores, I own monster fish, I educate those around me about them. The op actually knew what he had before he got them and knew the whole time how big they got. Then tried to sell them when he got board.

You can't compare the two facts that the knowledge you have and don't have is possible knowledge that others have long had.

yea there are some people that will go all out and create giant enclosures either in there home or they live somewhere they can keep these beasts in a pond all year and that's fine, but really there should be a special permit or something that you need to buy one. it reminds me of the trade in exotic animals like lions and such. it gets way out of hand and usually there is no place to rehome them and they live in awful conditions or they are euthanized. in the case of fish they are probably dumped in a river more often than not. as cool as it sounds to have wild populations of arrowana in north America, Europe or Asia where they don't already exist, its definitely a bad thing.

Too much bickerin and not enough actual discussion in this thread.
