To unite us all as one force you're going to have to find more things that people agree on, and calling ARA's "terrorists" is only making the ARA's on here think your attacking them personally, which your obviously not. If you had titled this "wana keep your fish? READ!!!" I believe the response would have been much different, you said it yourself that the forum is slowly filling up with ARA's. Some recognize that they're ARA's others don't. People like to skim read, meaning they read certain words and figure out the rest as they go.. If someone reads ...Animal rights... ...Stupid... ...Terrorist... they're guna get the wrong idea, probably the biggest weapons you have right now are the ARA's on this site. People who want to live a cruelty free life but still enjoy the company of other species are the biggest guns we have. How much would it mess PETA up if someone on THEIR SIDE agreed with you? Every time you imply that ARA's are terrorists, you loose another ARA who wants to fight along side you.. That's a very bad thing imo..

I do agree the pet industry is flawed. I do feel bad being a breeder and supplying fish, you know will likely be mistreated. We live in a imperfect society. It is really about personal responsibility, if everyone took good care of their animals, there would no need for animal cruelty laws and animal rights groups. I think in aquarium industry, its more of a situation of people not knowing the proper way to care for their fish. Not many people would knowing and willingly harm their pets.

RD. My grandma (if still living) would be old. She lived a great life of 70+ years, raised a family and enjoyed herself. I'd feed the cat.

For the exact same reason that if I seen a grown adult and a child hanging from a cliff, I'd save the kid first. The kid hasn't lived as long, the kid had more innocence etc etc.

And as for my sister, I probably should have explained that she can't keep her tounge in her head, and likes to abuse people, if someone was beating her up because she told them that she would do horrible things to their dog, cat, kids or whatever, she deserves what she gets. She's an extremest and takes things overboard.. In saying that though, I probably still wouldn't help the random getting beat up in the mall.. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes I don't value human life as much as other life. Yes, you and anyone else are welcome to question why I feel this way, just don't get cranky when you don't like my response.. But none of this will help bill get his point across about needing to stand together to fight for our hobby..

Let's just say its because I'm cold, heartless and am given new reasons every day to despise our species.. Also, as far as the whole "blood" thing, blood means nothing. My biological pop I've never met, never want to. The man I call pop doesn't share my blood, yet I love him more than the idiot who does.

Also feel free to call me whatever you'd like, I'm sure there's nothing you can call me that I don't get called daily.

Hello Wild Bill; A few weeks ago I tried to arrange school supplies for a grade school child in my area. One of those cases where the only way to be sure the child got the stuff was to bypass the parents. A friend who knows my views on things like social issues, and is pretty much on the other side of those fences, found out about it. He said he was suprised that I had the "heart" to do such a thing given his take on my views.

This made me understand something a bit better. He has felt that his point of view on things comes from a higher moral plane than mine. It seemed more apparent to me that he dismissed my stands on many things due to this concept.

I now suspect that those of us who place people way above any animals are also considered to operate on a lesser moral plane. Once we are viewed that way, then any and all of our arguments can be dismissed or degraded. We just "don't get it". We may be considered just too "hard hearted" to have our views considered.

As stated in an earlier post, I will not have another dog. I have been aware of the things you started this thread about for a while.

There were threads about pitbull type dogs some time back on this forum. While I had expected some of my views to be disagreed with, I was a bit suprised at how vicious some responses were. Perhaps similar mindsets?

It appears that you (and now I) may be lumped into a category by this thinking.

Glad to see this didnt get locked yet but i can believe what im reading... someone would rather watch their sister get her head cracked in than see a cat get it ?!?!?! Woa man...
This is what kills me and i love animals, i love sharing this knowledge with my kids but my god people take animal cruelty more seriously than human cruelty.

Google how many sex offenders are in your areas and see the b.s sentence they got for touching a kid its a joke but im supposed to believe that animal cruelty is a more severe crime ? Cmon

As for me i do not think the pet industry should come to an end. Sure there are idiots in our hobby but there are also great keepers out there. Humans have been domesticating animals for thousands of years why should that end ?
