I think we are being persuaded by the wrong people

Too costly. The state would have to be pay a union guy to actually do the paper cutting, which would take days. Think of the over time this would require
Nah... you're on the right track though... Put a $1000 per hour penalty clause in the contract if it isn't completed in 8 hours.:D

I remember seeing a cartoon strip in a paper years ago, showing some aliens in their saucer visiting our world and watching humans at the end of a leash, walking behind the animals and picking up their turds, and commenting to each other about how useful our well trained species would be if they took us back to their homeworld.

He is now back on the streets and on his meds again but he has to carry a cell phone so they know where he's at.

Just great! I bet the government is even paying the phone bill! Now when his meds run out and he flips out on the next person, he can record it and post it on Al Jazeera.

Guys the criminal justice system in the u.s is a business plan and simple... wish i could really get into it. It would make your stomach turn.

Makes me think sometimes how we got here. To the point everything is soo screwed up everyone hates the way it is but nothing changes.

I dont think its to good for a state/country to be too one sided interms of liberal vs conservative. Right in the middle would be too much to ask for but i tell you one thing nyc is one of the most liberal there is and im sick of it. Planning on getting out within the next year and i cannot wait !

True that! A walking time bomb

To make another comment on this topic I think with social media and forums like this us as fishkeepers need to show that we are responisble care takers of our fish. There are a lot of memebers on here with over stocked tanks but due to the amount of work they put into their tank with maintence they make it work and the fish live a good life. A lot of memebers on here take care of their fish better than a lot of people take care of themselves. I think if we could have a voice in things an expose this to animal advocate groups it may change a view on things.

As for permits for keeping fish it would be a nightmare. If the municipality that you lived in adopted an ordinace for pet inspections things could get interesting. For an example say you live in Plymouth township and I live in Norristown Borough and we both keep fish in a 125 gallon tank. For inspections my borough adopted the basis for fish keeping is the classic petsmart 1" of fish per gallon rule while your township adopts the sceintific formaula to calculate how many or how large of a fish or fishes you can keep. So obviously as you can see the stockes would be extremely different and a lot of the larger species of fish we keep would not be allowed. My point is this would ruin the hobby and extremely limit people to what they could potentially own. And if at a national level a certain standard is adopted on how to stock your tank and how many or how big of a fish your tank can hold I think the hobby would crash.

I like your thinking, but the one flaw is the bad always outweighs the good in mainstream media. PETA can come on here and click on a guy asking how long he can keep his arapaima in a 180 gallon and themselves and the media will be stuck on that and ignore that you may keep your nitrates less then 10 ppm and keep a single pike cichlid in your 220. Plus an opinion by definition can't be right or wrong, but if some loudmouth's opinion is that the 220 is too much room for the pike cichlid and it causes stress and starts #freethepike on twitter what you have to say to justify it won't matter because people don't care. Tool puts it best: "I need to watch things die, from a good safe distance, vicariously I, live while the whole world dies." It's a defense mechanism that makes people feel alive and good about themselves. Half the people don't even truly know what they are fighting for/supporting, but its popular...
