I thought they were shy,calm fish!!!!

Hi guys ive had my 5" 3 bar dat for a few months now in the 200l tank with a 3" plec and an 8 1/2 " florida gar, and he was scared to come out ,most of the time.Then i noticed he had a go at the gar when he was trying to eat so i put him in the big tank with 5 6.5 to 7.5" daemon fish an 18" rtg aro and a 13 " gibbiceps and i cant believe its the same fish!

He keeps attacking the geos and hes even had a nip at the aro hes a right pain in the ass,will he get any calmer as he grows or will he get worse?

It's not common for tigers to go after fish that are bigger than them. Especially an aro...:confused:
 
I have (5) 5"-6" and they will only chase each other around and never bother the other fishes. However, I did have one I sold a few months back that occasionally would nip at my Silver that was much larger than him.

Are you kidding? I have a 10" dat that always fight with a 14" dat, and the 14" dat always mess with the 20" aro. They are Tigers, not Kitties
 
Ya they dont like to be pushed around so they try and push around the bigger guy... :D

Thanks guys for the replies,glad ive not got another strange fish that does exactly the opposite of what ive researched on them.

I moved an overhanging rock in the middle of the tank which he was ambushing the other fish from and.He has calmed down quite a bit so its a start,and hes not had another go at the aro after he tried to eat him,so hopefully hes learning.

Just a quickie,whats the growth rate for these fish?
Hes 5" now,possibly more,what should i expect roughly by christmas?
