Hi,

My parents don't like fish keeping. They are like we only have fish because you like it. And when i bought the new 75 they were like are you crazy ? Are you done yet ? For them the only animal worth keeping is cats and dogs and i like cats as well. We have 4 cats right now.

However i just don't know why that every guest that come at home. My parents feel inclined to go into my room and show my id sharks to everybody. Look how they are big they say. My son has sharks. looks like people badmouth fish keeping but get hyptnotise when they see a fishtank.

my mom is the same way, my dad is all for more tanks though, bad part is my mom gets the last say.

Mom: Are you kidding JUSTIN?!?! Another ****ing tank, i swear to god if u fill it with water. This was after i brought home a 15 gallon i had got for free. I mean i only have a 90 gal goldfish pond thingie, a 46 gal euro and a 10 gallon.

But when her friends come over.

Mom: Denise you gotta see Justin's tank, his fish has so much color!
Denise: Oh wow! Look at them! Are they salt water?
Mom : Nope

Dad "Your fish are really small and your tank is really big why didn't you just get a 10 gallon?"

2 months later "Wow that thing is huge now"

Sometimes they just don't understand because they feel there are other more important things to be spending money on.. but if they are around the tank and get to see the fish they become hooked because it is really so interesting to watch nature go on in front of you.. the fish are hynotic and relaxing and if you open their eyes to the hobby then they just may get interested too. It is a slow addictive, deliberate kind of hobby.. you do not know you are into it until it is too late..

I've never had this problem.I think my wife has decided that she prefers me messing with my fish as opposed to playing video games.And she always tells me how good my tanks look after i rearrange.

its the oppisite for me, my mom loves my fish tanks and all the pets we have ever had, but my dad complains about them.

he will just march around the house saying things like "oh a nother fish, im not ganna take care of it you know."(all the fish tanks are in my room which he never goes in)

or "that damn cat, im the only one that changes its litter box" (doesn't even know where the litter box is)

or the best one "why is this dog so fat (shes not at all) you need to stop giving her so many treats" (while he is giving her a peace of food from the table)
