Nice filter systems guys. But it makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong myself......

When I buy a filter I just look on the box to see whats the max size tank it can handle and if its higher then what I have, I buy it for that application.

For my 55 gallon tank I was just going to use a Eheim 2213 shown here:

And on my 85 gallon tank I am using this Eheim 2217:

I notice how people have many more filters then I could ever imagine putting on a fish tank. I added some flourite to my tank and it looks like this:

So I added some extra help to clear up the water. What I am wondering is should I let them stay even after the water is clear? This is going to be a planted tank.

Thanks

Here's a pic of my setup.

You'll want to do a few massive water changes immediately. Your impellers are at risk of being scratched and blocked up. Next time, rinse your gravel before you add it to the tank. And rinse it again. Then do it again until the water looks clean enough to drink. Then rinse it again.

Are there fish in that?

I would follow the above advice and do some water changes as well.

Also, if you're tank is clean and water parameters in check, you most likely have enough filtration on your tanks with the eheim's. It's MFK though, so people love to over filter.

I would say that Jaguar loves you.
