well i plan on starting an aquarium. I need some advice on which fish to start with....*sigh* so gimme some options here people......please:nilly:

well i would like to have more than one fish ya know?
so idk.....

All depends on what king of fish you're into schoolers, predatory, oddball, rare? Also do you want them to live for life in your tank or is it a growout with a bigger tank in mind for the future?

If you're unsure of upgrade i'd just stay with what can live for life in the 55g.

Have you looked at any pictures around the web, picked up a book, or walked through a fish store? Get an idea and it is a lot easier to help you.
Why does it sound like I said this before?

We would love to help, but there are so many different kinds of fish to put in a 55, it would take all week and 16 pages to list everything.

that question is just too broad.

I aggree that you should take a trip to the fish store, petco, petsmart, etc. Look at all the fish they have.
(keep in mind they are all babies and some will grow huge while others will stay small)

Usually they list under the tank what type of fish and how large or aggressive they become. (these are just guidlines, many of these listed facts they have are not accurate, but they give you an idea)

You'll need to decide if you want small community fish or 1 or 2 larger growing fish.

If you want community fish, you have a mile long list of possibilities and combinations.
If you want a lone fish, Oscars, Jack Dempseys, Green Terrors, are some possibilities.

Try to research it a little more first. Then what we can do is help you NARROW your choices down to something appropriate.

go walk thru a decent sized fish store and than find some you like, but dont buy. come home, do some research and then ask people here about their experiences. 55 gallon can hold 50 fish or 1 fish, all depends.
