What do you like? Something to keep alone, a bunch of fish in a community? Maybe a breeding pair?

Welcome to Monsters...(Im on time to time).......To begin with, you must understand the concept basics of cichlids first hand....What better way then breeding the easiest fish------>Convict Cichlid....First hand, the Convict cichlid will teach the basic feeding, breeding and attitude cichlids carry within themselves......From here, you can move up to Oscars and maybe the dreaded Midas Devil(Red Devil)........

Convicts come in two main color tones---->black-grey stripe or Albino, or white....Females always show a yellow, sometimes pink reddish blotch on their tummies...Like most cichlids, males are more aggressive and have a hump(nuchal hump) that forms as a forehead as they grow.....You usually will find cons sold at 1 inch and for $1.99-4.99 each....Purchasing 3-5 juveniles at this size and growing them out in the 55g will 100% guarantee you a breeding pair within a month, maybe less(like most time)......After about 5 month, you will notice your periodical water changes are more customary than a chore....Feeling this way towards your small Monsters will allow you to be more comfortable in the purchase of a 100g tank with wishes for a much more larger and respectable Monster......

go walk thru a decent sized fish store and than find some you like, but dont buy. come home, do some research and then ask people here about their experiences. 55 gallon can hold 50 fish or 1 fish, all depends.

wow, you were able to say that a lot more straighfoward than i was.

:grinno: I always use way more words than are necessary.
