Honestly.
Whatever anyone says isnt going to change what someone wants.
So get what you like.
If you have the money to deal with its genetic faults, and you lile the dog why not?

They're nice dogs.
Lazy and exspensive to care for but nice dogs.
Well, I guess they can be considered nice in the fact that they won't be killing anything anytime soon? Lol.

English bulldogs, I would stay away from. The Olde English Bulldogge or the American bulldog can be great dogs if you find a good breeder. Always look to adopt first though before buying a dog. Petfinder.com is a good site to check out what's available.

maybe i should knock on wood here, lol, but we havent had any problems at all with our 2 yr old female. very intelligent and spunky. think she was a runt though. shes pretty small.

my buddy had a bulldog, i hated it. it snored so loud that one night about 4 in the morning i go up and walked home a mile in the freezin *** cold, i couldnt take it any longer. it used to try and fight with my german shepherd all the time, till one day my gsd snapped and put the bulldog in its place.

I must say that my bullie is in very good shape. Not over weight at all He is very active for being a bulldog but still has his share of problems.
I have a cattle dog mix that I got at 4 week old from the shelter I worked at. 12 years later not on single problem or unexpected vet visit

Obese? All americans? I think maybe you might want to re think that. Typical sterotype that is unecessary

Like I said before, most pure breeds-Problems,
Mixed breeds-mostly-NO Problems.

whatever you do steer clear of Southwest Bulldogs, the place where rob dyrdrek (from mtv's rob and big) got his bulldog. He may have got a decent one, being on T.V., but the web is full of nothing but complaints on this guy.

I was going to get one from him til I saw all this....a small portion of the pages you find all over the web just looking for his website:

If you want something that has the same build as an English Bulldog but more athletic and less problematic, I suggest a Boxer. One of our family friends has one and we love him!!! Very handsome dog, HUGE!!!!! (weights at least 90 lbs. of pure bone and muscle and his head his enormous!), friendly, and extremely entertaining. He's had no problems so far either.
