What is the biggest differense by keeping a gecko than a skink. (I know it's probably depends on the specie.)
I've been thinking about snakes, but I like the looks of a lizzard more, esp. in the size i'm range im after.

I think that you would enjoy a blue tongue skink. They are a little expensive about $100 USD, but well worth it. They have a really cool blue tongue, grow to about 16" or more depending on species, are omnivores so easy to feed, VERY docile and easily handled, and they don't need a huge tank min. of 36" long 18" wide and height doesn't really matter.
