i have been looking around in all the lfs's for a nice pike but they are hard to come by and i am wary to buy them because i am not sure what kind will go well with the current fish that i have and to be perfectly honest i am totally new to pikes i havent owned one yet. well anyway im wondering what kind of pikes would go well with 2 3inch peacock bass, a black ghost knife, common pleco, and a 5inch royal green terror.... any info is apreciated

throw in either an african tiger pike or a cincta, orange or johanna, these four will definitly grow with the bass, what size tank? any SPECIAL COLOR u lookingfor?

at the moment they are in a 55, lager tanks are in the future, i have only seen in person one orange pike and it was beutifull but from some of the pics i have seen on MFK there are some totally untapped possibility's..... i was thinking blue or orange since the peacocks will probly show some red eventually but honestly i am unsure as to what colors are out there.... thanks for the input

www.tangledupincichlids.com Jeff Rapps...hes got a HUGE list of Crenicichla right now...TONS of pikes to choose from. Only down side for you is that you have small fish, so you will have to get a smaller pike. The GT may pick on the pikes as well, but they may totally kick some serious toosh too. You gotta be careful. I would try Rapps TRUE strigata right now....they are cheap, small, rare, and BEAUTIFUL when adults. Not to mention they grow large so they will be harder to be eaten by the pbass.

They get to be large...lol..they are a Lugubris group pike...up to 14" easily...and thick. I've never seen a full adult at max. size though, so it could easily push 18" for all I know. They are gorgeous pikes, makin marms. and lents. run for the money, and they are much cheaper. I'll try to find yaz some pictures...;) These were the best pictures of strigata i could find...but it just doesn't do them justice. They get much more reds, greens, and blues than what is pictured..;) They are basically like a ven. with a WHOLE lot more color..;)

At the prices that they are right now from Rapps....and how close you are (shippin would be cheap), i would get a group of at least 5 of the strigata if you are gonna get that type. To me personally pikes look best when they are in pairs. They just compliment each other nicely and look so regal. Loner pikes are kewl, but I'd take a pair any day. I would say get the larger of the strigata that Rapps has, but your pbass would be in danger. So gettin the smaller ones would work better. Grow them up together, then when they pair up remove/sell the other ones...bam, you gotta very sexy pair!
