Wait, I changed my plan a bit.

Im going to get the black aro, keep him in the 180 then when I move I'll buy the Glasscages acrylic 240.

Im going to be saving my money as I have the aro in the 180, and by the time i move Im sure I will have enough money for a Glasscages acrylic tank. Then, Im going to sell the 180 on craiglist after I buy the 240.

With the money from the 180 I could even buy another tank and keep something else or just save it.

its ok the options are endless. :)

Ahahaha. I change my mind all the time. Atleast Im doing it now though.

I want the acrylic from glass cages but its 1,400!

The glass is only 850. The Dimensions are 96 x 24 x 31 Tall

So its perfect!

But the black can be kept in the 180 for atleadt 3 years correct? Its going to be 3 years at the most before I move. Probably 2 years though.

That 300 on ebay is NICE!

If I had room for the 300 I'd buy it first.

The 125's at my lfs cost 600 alone so this Glasscages site is awesome!

Im buying my 180 from there aswell, screw my LFS and there 600 dollar 125's! 480 bucks is cheap and I'll have money left over for filtration/lighting!

Im so excited. Thanks for the help everyone!

After I buy the 300 and move the aro to it, I'm going to heavily plant it and put lots of bogwood and drift wood and get either a pair of cobra pike, svenni's, or johannis. I was going to use the 180 for that in the first place, but to bad.

Im getting a Black Arowana!

Thanks everyone!

are you absolutly SURE now?!?!?! ...i remember when i went through this same dilemma when i first got my Jardini, i ended up like this ---> for about a month. before, i decided on anything..i drove my GF crazy! lolz

anyways, Good Luck man...

I am 100% SURE! I just have to sell my dirtbike, but I was going to do that anyway. I cant wait until I order my 180 from glasscages, I hope I dont die from anticipation before it arives.

I'll probalby just keep her by herself, I dont want people, or myself who look at the tank to be distracted from her beauty! Ahaha

I was also thinking I could maybe keep a jardini in the 180 after the black out grows it. I think it would be cool to have more then one arowana as most people do.

Someday Im going to buy a fiberglass tank from AES, the biggest one they have so I can keep A silver, a black, and a lei together. It would be for my basement. I like the AES cages because they have the size of a pond with a nice viewing window.

I dont mean to burst your bubble, but you cant keep those aros together, they will go "apesh-t" on each other. Anyways, I am ordering a custom aquarium from glasscages as well, 96x48x20. And decisions for aquariums CANNOT be rushed at any cost. It has taken me five years of waiting and deciding whether to even attempt raising an arowana, they are one of the most temperemental fish in this hobby. I am glad to see that you got some info before diving in:headbang2 to arowanas. I have ranted and bragged:naughty:, long enough, good luck with your black aro btw.

So you cant keep a black and a silver together? I have seen it done and wanted to try it some day, or maybe two blacks and a silver.

If you ment I cannot keep a jardini and a black together I already knew that. I was trying to say once the black outgrows the 180 He will live in the 300 by himself and the jardini could live in the 180 by himself. I wouldnt be keeping them at the same time ofcourse.

I cant wait. I'll be getting the tank with in a couple months hopefully. Then I gotta get a nice glass or acrylic top and some prolights, then filtration, then set it up all nice, add water, cycle, add black arowana!

I have another question.. Haha. Isnt a 300 gallon tank big enough for more then one arowana? I was just wondering. But even if it could, I dont think I could do it because two black arowanas in a 180g for two-three years seems like it would get a bit cramped. But couldnt I say, move the black to the 300 and then buy another black of the same size?

If I cant its ok because having just one arowana is going to be awesome!

And I could just keep a Jar in the 180 after the black outgrows it.

If you must have a tank RIGH NOW, you should invest a little more initially and look into tank brands that are more established reliability record. I've heard from multiple people on fishboards whose glasscage tanks leaked not too long after they were purchased (I have yet to hear of Oceanics or All Glass tanks breaking up in the same manner). To let you know, the bottom pane on glasscages are not made from tempered glass either unlike All-Glass / Oceanic. In addition, they appear to be VERY VULNERABLE to slightest stress from angled placement of the tank.

Start with 180 as of now as you will be needing a smaller tank for emergency / qurantine purpose anyways. While you grow aros out, wait for a good used deal on craigs, classifieds on fishboards, and ebay for your larger main tank. Your patience will be greatly rewarded!

One thing I also learned from this hobby is that "new" equipments are not worth getting as they will only drain money from your pocket. Used items in aquaria hobby will not "depreciate in value" due to age unless they are maintained well and carefully used. If upgrades become necessary, your "used tanks" will sell at equal or even higher price than what you paid for.
