also...they are easily trained off of live foods...however they will eat live feeders if you put them in for the p-bass...it's just part of their nature. the p-bass would probably beat them to the feeders anyway. hope this helps.

a feeding stick will be your best bet. i started mine out on raw shrimp on the end of a feeding stick...after a short while he was eating pellets and other floating foods.

be very careful w/ what tankmates you keep these gar with. they are very prone to spinal injury. if spooked they could dart into the glass and very easily injure their spine.

no not that fast..only alligator gars will get that size in there first year..long nose gars will get up to 13 to 16 inches in there first year..
