I want something mean as hell. I have a 45 gallon tank, and can probably buy a used tank somewhere. I have experience, and i'm currently finishing up my 2nd saltwater tank, this latest one being 75 gallons.

Anyways, i have this 45 gallon tank, and i want something aggressive to be the only fish in there, that is mean as hell. So i need some suggestions, if needed i will be able to buy a used tank that's larger.

Any input is appreciated.

my ideas. are either a rhom piranha who arent active all the time but if put something in there with it thats the same size or bigger itll tear them up i got a 8 inch rhom and i tryed to put a 9 inch dovii in with him and he just killed him. but i put smaller cichlids in with him and he dont bother them untill hes hungry.

my other idea is a freshwater puffer or a snake head i hear there both aggressive andthe puffer is pretty active but not as deadly

Snakeheadk.s- illegal Any fish you put in there no matter how agressive is bond to sit in a corner most of the time. Red devil might be ok for awhile but will soon need a bigger tan

I honestly think its retarded how snakeheads are illegal to keep in tanks yet they pay you to kill them down here...

But as others have said you could get a red devil/ midas, oscar, or snakehead. They are all great fish with tons of personality but they will need a bigger tank sooner than later.

oscar? arowana?

these aren't aggressive.

get a buttikoferi, it's exactly what you're looking for.

if your not upgrading the 45G try out a red hi-fin wolf fish..otherwise if your getting a 75G then go for oscar..

a hujeta gar is pretty mean... ours is forever hunting down feeders

if you're looking for something that could be a little brackish, you could try a figure 8 puffer

sen. bichirs are playful and a little evil when it comes to things that can fit in its mouth... and they're on sale @ petsmart for 3.49 right now :)

wolf fish for sure, one of the smaller ones, but they'll still rip a goldy in half, have teeth like a dog, and will even try to bite you while you clean the tank :)
