excuse my crappy attempt at describing this fish to you via illustration. if i had found this fish online i wouldn't be asking this question. but i was at this mysterious little lfs i never been to before, it had plenty of messed up/ poor condition/ deformed/ sick fish, but some where real oddities! (she had an asian arowana in the back. shhh)

and noticed they were selling these bright-white fish with red eyes and barracuda-like mouths. they were like a cross between a cichlid and the head had the shape of a horses head.

they had kind of a thick lower jaw and thats what caught my attention first of all. i asked the store owner what they were but shes a crazy chinee lady and can't speak much english and she yelled at me saying it was "Hap! 6 DOLLAR!".

i really wanted it but i need more info. they were being kept with baby shovelnose catfish and were all about 3-4". i been there a month before and they were the same size. any help or info?? again, sorry for the crappy attempt to draw the fish. i had to do it entirely off memory.

NOTE: im not even sure i drew them right. but im emphasizing the kinda jaw they had, coupled with my semi-knowledge of fish anatomy.

If it is an Albino Dimidichromis Compressiceps you are looking for I believe they still have small ones at Moanalua Pets.

take a picture at lfs
or just buy it

the reason i wont do that is cause i dont wanna find out it grows extremely huge, i hate having to give away fish that outgrow my tank.

right on! all of you are correct. thank you. 11" though. but i hate when websites put "Diet: Carnivore" or "Meaty foods" or "high protein diet". even "Live foods" doesn't say much. so can i feed it a tree? its alive right? rrrr. lol

its a good size fish! now i wanna look at dentition / if it can eat live feeder convicts etc.

i had one a while ago and it ate anything i put in pretty much. Bloodworms were a definite favorite though.
