I want to get a snake...

Thats your hognose. Maybe WC?

CB hognoses accustomed to humans (THAT DOES NOT MEAN HANDLE THEM TILL THEY GO LIMP) are little angels, and some of the most expressive snakes. They don't bite until all the warnings are spent. Mine is so full of character and spunk, and I love her more than any snake (or possibly any reptile, with my beardie the exception) I have ever had. I highly reccomend them if you want something that every snake keeper on the block doesnt have.

Theyre not to pricey either, about 30 bucks for a baby normal. Different locales and morphs are avaliable, and if you have the money, a great alternitive.

May I suggest a tricolor hog as well? Even more beautiful in a pocket-sized package. Just get one big enough to eat fuzzies. Same with westerns. Babies are INCREDIBLY small, and very fragile and sometimes hard to feed. With any hognose, go CB and juvenile size. Same for any herp.

I thought ATBs just gave love bites....

Loco, maybe it's not my mom's hognose. Maybe yours is just extra-friendly. True, she only has one and it's the only hognose I've ever had experience with, but from your post it sounds like you've also only had one, so which one of us is to say what the rule for hognose behavior is? There are behavioral guidelines for each species, but even within the species, you'll find individuals which break the "rules" for how that species is supposed to act.

Also, don't start some kind of "always CB, always juvenile, always this, always that...." spiel. As with the aforementioned behavioral guidelines, the rules for herpetoculture aren't always hard-set like you make out. I feel like you have this attitude towards herpetoculture where you can read a bunch of stuff and talk to a few people here and there, maybe keep a couple of reptiles, and do some name-dropping and you're automatically an expert on all reptiles, no matter how much you deny that you think you're an expert.

Anyway, to Nabbig, if you want a snake, go to a reptile show and see everything in person. Even the best pictures can't fully represent the beauty and power you'll find in a living, breathing snake, no matter if it's newborn or full-grown. Visiting reptile shows is what really got me started off in keeping snakes that I love.

just held my baby corn today, been a few weeks, you guys got me motivated again, cool as$ little snakes.
