There is a swift moving river that runs near my house. It's in the mountains at about 4,000 ft and not polluted. I found some great roots to some trees that extened out from the banks into the water and looked great. I broke a few off, cleaned them, soaked them, and then pored boiling water on them (too big to boil). Are they now safe to put in with my fish?

Maybe a better question would be...Is is okay to put recently cut roots from a tree as driftwood?

I think I will wait to put them in until I get some more knowledge on the subject. Help please.

for what its worth i've got some dw from lakes here in socal and boiled the ones i could and soaked the bigger ones in a tank by itself and had a filter running on that tank i never had any problems

Thanks for the input. I guess my concern is that this wasn't dead wood. I broke off roots that were underwater extending from the bank. I am wondering if there is a reason that I should wait for the wood to dry out?

very good question cuz i was fishing the other day and i was thinking of the same thing
