yea, personal preference i guess, but i think i can make it look pretty decent. but, the only problem is... making sure there is nothing left in the bottles that can be harmful for the fish!

anyways, just figured i'd ask if anyone has done this, or what i should do to properly clean a bottle out?

thanks

I guess rinsing it out really well on the inside and outside to remove any stickers and glue residue should be fine. Glass isn't porous so it wouldn't have absorbed any beer so a good rinse should do it.

that, an i really don't advise that you leave the labels on. although it may be cooler to you since it will show what the bottles were from, they will fall off and could be ingested by the fish. if it were me, i would boil the bottle, peel the glue and labels off, and then scrub the outside thoroughly with a good pot scrubber , like the crazy metal kind that is like a bunch of steel wool. this will help get the glue off too. that should do the trick

soak the bottle in hot water to get the lable off. sanitize it in a lite bleech solution and then in a bucket of dechlorinator and it should be fine.

just soak int hot water to get the label off

hey thanks guys... labels = bad. so, if i don't have labels, and want to do some art (i'm a pretty artistic guy) on it, what's the best way? or should i not even worry about drawing or painting on the bottle? i guess it doesn't matter for me, just wondering...

I guess you could decorate it in some way and then seal it with something that won't leech anything into the water. I'm not too handy in that way so I wouldn't know what you could use to seal.

honestly, i'm not sure of any paints that you would realistically use to decorate the outside of the bottles. i really think you should add color with plants and fish.

yea i probably won't add any paints or anything, just figured i'd ask if anyone knew... but hey i'll still use an empty label-less bottle
